Biting Apple’s New iPhone 5

So the biggest news in the technology world happened last week with the announcement of Apple’s next generation iPhone. Already being a dedicated Apple lover or “fanboy”, I was excited to see the (obvious) changes. The bigger 4-inch screen was a no brainer but I liked how Apple made the black iPhone 5 completely black. Also, goodbye to the glass back and welcome back to the aluminum casing! With a bigger screen they needed a faster chip, so Apple created the A6 chip which is twice as fast as the A5. Another big change was the announcement of the Lighting connector which replaces the 9 year old 30-pin connector. Plenty of people were pissed off about this change, but I thought it was about time that Apple evolved.

Now in a PR point of view there was nothing really special about this press conference. Apple does the “if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it” when it comes to the conference. It’s the same thing every year. Tim Cook felt really relaxed and excited this year compared to last year when he released the iPhone 4S. It seemed like he had training, but he knew that this was a huge step for the iPhone since Steve Jobs introduced the first iPhone. Throughout the event, Cook and his team kept calling the new iPhone 5 “the most beautiful product” while knocking down their competition in sales and design. I also love how Apple tells you exactly when and where you can buy their products. Straight to the point.

Check out the infograph below to see the reaction of the iPhone 5 from Twitter and Facebook:

The iPhone 5 will be available on September 21, 2012 for $199/16GB. $299/32GB, and $399/64GB. The Β iOS 6 software update will be available on September 19, 2012.
